Crowstone Preparatory School is an Independent Day School for boys and girls from 2½ to 11 years old. CPS was established in 1946 by a mother and daughter team and has enjoyed great success in academic, sporting, musical and drama achievements.
To this day it remains a family run establishment, run by husband, wife and eldest son and former Crowstone pupil, which believes in a blend of traditional values supported by new technologies and ideologies which uphold and nurture high expectations for each pupil.
We hope that, after viewing our website, you will be encouraged to visit us in person to see how a small, unique school can work for your child. Each child is an individual and here at Crowstone they are respected as such. We guarantee that our small class sizes will not let your child become lost in the crowd.
Excellent results in both 11+ and SATs are consistently above the national average for Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. Crowstone is one of the few Private Schools in the borough that allows every pupil in Year 6 to sit the 11+ Selection Test, if they so wish. The majority of children not only sit the 11+ Selection Test, with excellent results (66% of our pupils are offered a place at one of the four main local grammar schools), but also a number of children sit challenging examinations and have gained entrance to Public Schools such as New Hall School, Milfield, St. Paul's Cathedral School, Winchester Cathedral, Brentwood, Felsted, Chelmsford High, King Edward VI Grammar and the City of London School.
